Christina (7yo) was always a very aggressive sleeper.  She would also snore and was a serious mouth breather.  I suspected she had apnea for quite a while, I just did not know how much damage it could cause in a young child.  Her apnea was diagnosed during a check for RLS/PLMD.

If you think your child may have apnea, get it checked.  The sleep test is no big deal (Chris has had 3 and is getting ready for #4) they just have kids sleep while wired up with a bunch of electrodes, nothing painful.......and you will get much needed peace of mind.

Susanne

Chris was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea September 2006, surgery Nov 2006, Cpap Feb 2007.

IvoryAngel,

Be sure to read
Diary of a mini hosehead (7 yo) in this section. Susanne (tatamom) has done an exceptional job of chronicling her daughter's adventures with sleep apnea.

Thanks for the response and yes I have been reading her diary and this is what prompted me to ask how do you know?  I have sleep apnea and my son is 7 and he loves to wear my mask.  More than I do actually.  I am sure its just curiosity.  But he suffers alot from allergys and has a hard time breathing sometimes at night because of his congestion and allergies.  I have been thinking about letting him sleep with my mask and see what happens.  The only issue I have is that I know everyones settings are different.  Would it hurt him to sleep with it for one night to see if it improves how he feels?
Thanks
