Hi there! I never rule out help of any kind except obstructive sleep apnea is just that. There are obstructions in the breathing passage that inhibit and sometimes stop our breathing. The CPAP or PAP therapy, fore air into this breathing passage and keep it open so that we can get air into our lungs and put oxigen in our blood. The side-effects of not breathing properly range from poor sleep to depression to heart failure to all types of mental problems to death. I missed quite a few in between poor sleep and death, but I'm sure you get the picture. I you really love your uncle, you need to be the point person for him and encourage him to go back to the sleep apnea physician for additional help. Nobody and I mean NOBODY straps on a cpap and reports the next morning that it was the best night of sleep they ever had!!!!!! It takes time and practice and support from others. Thanks so much from posting on this board. It shows your committment to your uncle. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone had someone that loved them so much. Keep posting. We want to support both you and your uncle.
