Post Ready to give up
I hope I got the right section for this.

I have read the sticky on nasal irrigation but I continue get sinus headaches/infections each time I use my BiPap. My main problem is I'll sleep the whole night with my BiPap and have to put it up for a week because of the headaches I get...I feel miserable for days. It has come to the point where it is not worth it anymore having to deal with this. I have a coworker that has dealt with the same problem but others who don't have a problem at all. I use the NeilMed sinus rinse twice a day and other nasal sprays that don't seem to help. If I turn off the humidifier my nasal passages dry out and cause sores.

I'm at a lost. If someone can recommend a different approach I would be deeply grateful.

I have a lot of sinus issues, but I haven't had any headaches from CPAP.  I wouldn't turn the humidifier completely off, but don't use a lot of humidity.  I usually take a zyrtec at night when my allergies are bad which is very often.  Do you take anything for congestion now?  Have you discussed the headaches with your sleep doc?

Have you tried that Alkalol  nasal wash and mucus solvent and cleaner, Vicki recommended it in the blocked nose thread. I tried it yesterday, and it beat the regular NeilMed sinus rinse hands down! In fact I mix up the NeilMed sinus rinse and then mix it half and half with Alkalol, 4oz each. Do each nostril once with the Alkalol nasal cup, and then go back and do it again. It really works for me, I also take a  alavert and benadryl an hour before going to bed.
Uncle Dave before giving up on BiPAP, have you seen an ENT doctor about your problem. If you haven't it might just be worth your time and trouble  to check with one of those doctors.  There has got to be a better solution for you than abandoning the BiPAP, that is just going to make the SA problem worse! Good Luck to You

Hi Yawn

I have my humidifier setting at 2 out of 5. I also take a benadryl every night.

I have an appointment with my sleep doctor in a couple of weeks and will discuss this with him. I did call,  spoke with his nurse and she consulted with him. He said to wash my humidifier out with soap and water which I do anyway and this should solve the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions White Beard

I will make an appoinment with an ENT and see what he has to say. I haven't tried the Alkalol nasal wash but I will give it a try.

Hi Uncle Dave,

Have you also read about these pulsating devises?  (Water Pik and Hydropulse).

I have had a lot of sinus and nose problems. I have used a pot (similar to the Neti pot) for 1 year without any results.

Then I ordered a Hydropulse devises (This because this was the one I found with EU Power).

I don’t know if it would help anyone, but in my case it was like “a new life”. Today I have no problems with my sinuses and turbinate’s. (When I'm at home)

In fact I had an appointment with my ENT tomorrow to get and Coblation on my turbinate’s. I have canceled this, but I still have an appointment with my ENT. This is because I want to discuss this with her. This pulsating devises we don’t have in EU.

The last 2 days I had travelled to Sweden (In fact I travel a lot), and I couldn’t take both my APAP and my Hydropulse device with me. And within these 2 days my sinus problem again is worsened a lot.

So I’m quite sure, that this Pulsating system is the reason, why I don’t have problems with my sinuses today. But maybe I still want this Coblation done, because of my travelling. Therefore I want to discuss this with my ENT tomorrow.

Henning
