Post new comfort gell mask breaks
I am very annoyed that my comfort gell mask has broken after only a few months careful use, in exactly the same way that most of the old ones broke.

a clear plastic part that holds the black velcro strap has broken

this was a common problem with this mask and I had been assured that it had been fixed, along with other improvements, but when I got the new mask the clear plastic holder part looked no stronger so I assumed it was made of stronger plastic. I avoided strong pressure on the headgear too

respironics really should get properly organised, it seems they dont bother to get anyone to test their masks before selling them to the public

as before I repaired the mask by drilling holes thru the broken plastic and attaching the clip with wire, I dont know how long this repair will last, has anyone come up with a better repair?

I fixed my comfort gel with duct tape. Just put the strap swivel in place in what remained of the attachment point on the mask and then I duct taped the heck out of it. It held for months....well in fact it is still together. I kept it for a spare once I was able to get a new one through insurance. I'd have to think drilling holes in the plastic attaching piece would just weaken an already weak spot on the mask.
I agree the attachment points need to be redesigned. If you don't have a spare and your mask breaks at bedtime it can be a real problem.

Lynn and Gman, my husband uses a Comfortfull FF mask and one of the attachment points broke about 2 months after he started using it.  It was replaced under warranty and had no further problems and now he has a Comfortfull 2 which also has had no problems.  Still, it shows that attachment points need careful design.
