 Heated Hose
OK so right now I am currently working at a camp and am at 7000ft and it is getting in the 30s at night. Night 1 I tried the humidifier and woke up and thought it was raining, so i turned it off and used it just as a passover. Night 2 i left it as a pass over but i woke up and my nose hurts so much from the dryness of the air. So I am now looking for a heated hose. I found one online made by sleepzone. Does anyone know of any other brands ? does anyone have any further recommendations? My current hose is already wrapped up but that really didn't do anything.
Thanks,
Rob

Not sure which humidifier you are using...but as far as other suggestions......
I live in Denver (we're a mile high ). I don't like too much humidity and I'm using a Respironics humidifier. If anything, I place the setting at 1 - but again, I don't like too much humidity (it's a very dry climate here). If you're in the 30's at night, at camp, then I would at the very least keep the setting at the lowest heated setting you can - you don't want to freeze your humidifier tank (you are probably borderline freezing depending on how warm your tent is). You've also got air flowing through a hose (presumable 6 feet long) so water droplets (humidified air) will have the opportunity to freeze in the tube before it gets to the mask. Too much heat to the humidified water, and it will feel like it's raining.
Can you adjust the settings?

Sleep zone heated hose is also called the "Aussie Heated Hose". The only other heated hose I am aware of is used on certain models of Fisher Paykel CPAPs.

Thanks for your responses, this morning it was at 39 so its getting warmer but still. On the first night i did try to put it at 1 and still experienced rain out... so i think i will just disconnect the humidifier and wait like 2-3 weeks when it gets much warmer.
thanks again

If your sleeping area is 39, can you use a small electric space heater near you and the cpap?

In the winter here in Ohio, I tried turning the humidifier up to 4 & got the water drops so I adjusted down to a 3 but put the hose part leading up to my nasal pillows under the covers with me. The water drops stopped & it warmed up the hose a little. Maybe putting part of the hose under your covers might help you.

Well it's not that the whole hose is under the covers, I don't know if this will make sense but my machine sits on a tray by the bed, the hose droops over the bed post and then just a small section (about 1 foot of it) right before it comes into my nose is the part I snuggle under the covers with. It might sound weird but I hold it like a plastic stuffed animal close to my chest & pillow - is really has cut down on the drippings when I turn the humidity up a notch.
Another thought, since you're in a sleeping bag is it possible that your machine is level with you so there's more of a drip factor? When we stay on the air mattress at relatives and my machine is barely lower than me, what I try to do is drape the hose over a chair or something so the mist has to travel up the hose before coming down the hose to me.
Good luck, I give you credit for trying to camp. I've declared my camping days over since on CPAP.

I suppose I asked for that!
Just got back from week-end visiting with family & slept on airmattress again...have to admit I did notice a little more drip than in comparison when at home in comfy bed. Did the "cuddling" help at all? Or should I just say good-night & quit encouraging you?
