 Respironics Comfort Curve
I am looking for feedback from people using the Respironics comfort Curve CPAP mask
Looks like an interesting mask design and am wondering if it leaks much.
I am currently battling leaky mask and am looking for better alternatives to Resmed Quattro full Face mask.

If that's the one with the pads for the cheeks, I bought one, tried it, leaked like a sieve, hurt my high cheek bones, took it back...

That is a shame if the cushion that is meant to make it comfortable hurt the cheek bones and what use is a mask that leaks like a sieve ?
I would like to get hold of a second hand unused one so I can examine he features at close quarters.
I tried the Oracle which also looks nice on pictures just like the comfort curve. I just could not breathe through the mouth and the resistance to exhalation was so high that I had to virtually blow into the Oracle to exhale.
The jaw started to hurt within a few minutes and I Spat the Dummy and went back on the quattro. This was cutting the skin all round the nose so I switched back to the Activa nasal mask at about 3.00am...
Sometimes I feel like chucking the masks on the floor and doing a Romper Stomper

I really liked the looks of that also, but it somewhat worried me that the face pads would make my face break out on my cheeks from sweating .. I still think a Hybrid is the next in my future .. Ram I hope you find one to test out, I'd like your view on that also.

 Comfort Curve
I have used the Comfort Curve for about 2 years now and love it! For me the leak rate is very low. I can wear either the medium or the small cushion. It is not a popular mask for most people but for a few, it is great! The cheek pads seem to cause the most problem. There are the silicone ones and now foam ones are included.

In fact after my posting I went to see my sleep apnea technician. I returned the F& P Oracle she had loaned me and told her that I was not able to exhale and in fact had to BLOW into the Oracle and that tired me out and gave me mild chest pain I think the forceful breathing ( or rather blowing) was a bit too much for my lungs that is used to 13mm positive pressure blowing air in from my CPAP.
I asked her if I could try out a Respironics Comfort Curve mask, as it looks sexy . She said in all seven years she sold just one Comfort curve mask that got returned in less than a week. In her opinion it was too heavy and cumbersome. While to me the cheek pads appeared to be a good design aspect she said users have complained that the cheek pads hurt them .
I still believe that the comfort curve may be a better option for me in comparison with the Quattro. but cannot get one from my supplier for a trial. I am still hoping some one will have an unused second hand Comfort curve that they can send across to me.

Snowy, I was told that Respironics will make a comfort curve available to me to test out. I might get it in a few days time and rest assured I will tell you what I think about the mask.

 Sleeping with the comfort curve
Based on comments from people who have tried the Respironics Comfort Curve I was prejudiced into believing that it would be like sleeping with the enemy..I was not wrong
Respironics Reps were wonderful and have made a comfort curve available to me to trial.
The unit is even more beautiful than what I thought. It is elegant and light and a great design that went horribly wrong.
The intent of the designers was good but the execution and the final product IMHO rates 2 / 10
The very curve that is supposed to make the mask comfortable poses the biggest problem. the curved plastic is like a clamp and hurts the cheek bone as experienced by many. and the nose cushion is indeed a poor design that has sent a great concept to the scrap heap...
Pity Respironics did not hire me as their mask design engineer. I could have eliminated the flaws before the product was released. Sometimes designers are so proud of their ideas that they push the product through into the market only to be condemned. A company like Respironics should have known better
This mask may help some one who needs a pressure of 6 cms and nothing more. at pressure of 13 that I need, forget using the comfort curve

 Comfort Curve
I just got an email that there was a new post here about the Comfort Curve. Since I have been following the threat I came to see.
I was surprised it was you Ram! I thought you liked it when you tried it! So, you do not like the Comfort Curve! My 90% pressure is 12 and I sometimes go to 13 cm on my auto. Comfort Curve works for me at 12 and 13. At least you got a chance to try it. Good luck in finding your dream mask. We each have to find what works for us.

I have a big nose !! and the Large cushion is too small for me and gets squashed. I wore it again yesterday with my S6 for an afternoon nap and had to switch to the activa that is connected to the S8.
Believe the comfort curve might still work for me when I use it with Resmed S8 on auto as it will not be blowing constantly at 13 cms but start at 8 cms and ramp up only if I have apneas.
No I will give the mask a fair go and trial it next week and see how I fare compared to the Activa. I have tossed the Quattro for good.
I still maintain it is the most elegant mask on the market and the head gear is fabulous too.
I find the curve is too small for my face and as a result there is too much pressure on the cheek bone. In fact I found that if I stretched the curve a bit by pulling it slightly the cushion seals better. May be they should have used a material that could be immersed in hot water and bent to suit the individuals face. I am pretty sure your face is not as wide and the comfort curve fits you better. I like the idea of sleeping on my side all curled up which I have not been able to do for 20 years and have even developed sciatica.
