0% REM
There were 249 arousals and 30 awakenings resulting in a total arousal index  of 43/hour of sleep.

During the first 158 minutes there were 193 respiratory events with a respiratory disturbance index of 73.5/hour.

CPAP trtrated as high as 10 cm H2O with a reduction in RDI to 7/hour.

Why am I feeling more tired when I wake up now with the CPAP than before?  I have been taking 200mg of Provigil everyday for about a year now becuase I was falling asleep driving to work, 2 hours after I woke up.  I do have a follow up with my doc on the 19th but I am still exhausted all day.

It would be interesting to know whether your arousal index also dropped during CPAP titration and whether there was any change during titration in your sleep architecture (the amouint of time spent in stage 3/4 and/or in REM sleep). Also, it would be interesting to know what your O2 levels were during baseline and during titration.

Most likely (especially if your O2 desaturations were relatively infrequent and/or relatively high) you are still becoming acclimated to CPAP. Are you having any difficulties in tolerating CPAP and/pr the mask?

Best wishes,
Bill

Yes, I am still having some problem getting used to the mask.  I usually wake up a couple times during the night to adjust it.  The only thing I have referencing O2 is my Oxyhemoglobin levels remained between 70% and 98% throughout the study.  I really don't know what that means but it sounds intersting.

True, but is being poked in the ribs 7 times an hour better than 73 times an hour?

Yes...but it still keeps you awake!

OK, my next question is I work shift work.  Every week I have a different set of hours.  Is there a medical reason I need to stop shift work?  I have seen all over the internet where shift workers are continuing but would it help if I were to have normal hours?  Thanks everyone.
