marks left on the face by the mask and/or straps can often be reduced by rubbing skin lotion into the skin before bed

Lynn,

You need to be careful there. Some lotions can react with the silicone in the mask. CPAP manufacturers often warn against any lotions on the face for this reason. If the skin is any way oily it can create leaks due to an inneffective seal.

On the other side, strap marks on the face usually indicate that the straps are too tight.
