Got a copy of my results from my home study, I had a bad cold that day, found it very hard to sleep with all that stuff stuck to me, my frustration with the results is that all of the data is in the prone position none while supine, anyways here are my results:
Average SpO2 95.2-- -- --------------- # central apneas/hr 0
Lowest SpO2 89.0------------------- #Obstructive/hr .2
Light snoring noted------------------- # mixed apneas/hr .4
------------------- longest apnea 14 sec
------------------- # hypopneas/hr 13.7
------------------- AHI/hr 14.3
------------------- total autonomic arousal index/hr 23.9
------------------- body position (prone/supine) 100%, 0%
------------------- Epworth sleepiness score 15
Impression:
This study consistent with mild obstructive sleep apnea-hyponea syndrome. Because the patient spent 100% of the study in either the prone or lateral position the AHI obtained may underestimate the degree of sleep disordered breathing when sleeping supine. He goes on to state that CPAP is the most effective therapy for OSA and using a "regression equation" he suggests a starting pressure of 7 +/- 2 cm H2O. does this all sound OK, I personally don't think It was a very good study.
Thanks,
Steve
