Post Falling Sleep in a Chair
Hello:
I can fall asleep in a chair after dinner, during a tv show or sitting at the computer. it is a sound and deep sleep for 5-10 minutes.  However, I can never fall asleep like sound in bed.  I sleep very lightly and wake up often.  I am overweight and have high blood pressure.  I do not snore, or wake up gasping for air.  I am tired during the day.

Does this sound like sleep apnea?
Thanks---Tim

Check the FAQ forum for a list of common sleep apnea symptoms - you might find you have more symptoms.  Take the list to your doctor and discuss.

Being overweight can make sleep apnea worse, and high blood pressure can be a sign of sleep apnea.  Check that FAQ for a complete list, but some other symptoms off the top of my head include:

- frequent nighttime urination
- Memory loss
- Memory loss (did I say that one already?  /grin)
- headaches when you wake in the morning
- feeling fatigued during the day and even right after you wake in the morning
- waking up gasping for air
- nighttime sweats

Not everyone with sleep apnea has ALL the symptoms (I never had headaches, for example), but I was recently diagnosed with severe apnea.
