Post Solution for wires in infant's crib
Our 14mth old son Henry is on CPAP, apnea monitor, and pulse-ox at night.  We often go in to his bedroom and find that he has the cords twisted all around his body (and yes, sometimes his neck).

We do put him in a front-snapping onesie and then a sleep sack.  I thread the wires for the apnea monitor between the top two snaps on the onesie and then out the armhole of the sleep sack.  The extension tube that needs to be attached at night for his late night meal is threaded between the next two snaps and then also out through the armhole.  The pulse-ox cable is attached to one of feet (I alternate) and then goes out the bottom of the sleepsack - the sleepsack zips from top to bottom - very convenient for getting in at night to adjust a pulse-ox cable that has been rubbed off).

Is there anything we can do to prevent this?  He isn't a tiny baby any more.  He moves around in bed.

I'm not sure at what age children usually move to blankets from sleepsacks, but until we are free of wires at night, I think he will have to be in a sleepsack to at least keep the wires in some sort of place.

I guess one solution would be to keep him on CPAP longer - he never lasts the night - but we are not willing to let him scream for too long.  With the CPAP on, he isn't rolling around.

Does he sleep with any pillows in bed?

When Isaac has lots of cords, usually because of testing, we thread them out the leg of his pajamas. We just point all of the stickers so that the lead is going down and then send them down the leg and out the ankle.

If you want to keep him in a sleep sack, which is a great idea!, then I would invest in some "Baby Legs". Use that as you would a leg on a pair of pajamas and send all of his cords out the same place. Even if he does roll around, it won't wrap around his neck, just around his leg or belly. If you secure the lead this way, they come loose less often, too!

Hope that's helpful!

Hi,
Thank you so much for the suggestion to run the wires out pajama bottom and then out the bottom of the sleep sack along with the pulse-ox cable.  Instead of a pair of baby legs (I have some, but they are way too hot for him - he is a hot little guy), I used two poseys (wraps with velcro closure) attached together and wrapped them around his thigh with the two apnea wires under them.  Once he is asleep, I undo the bottom of the sleep sack, hook up the apnea leads to the cable (and hook up the pulse-ox too).
This has been a sanity saver - thank you.

Sarah,
I am glad you found a solution!! If you ever need any bright ideas, let me know! I've been there and done that for almost any apnea situation over the last 2 years...except for the masks...Isaac doesn't wear one...
