Our 14mth old son Henry is on CPAP, apnea monitor, and pulse-ox at night. We often go in to his bedroom and find that he has the cords twisted all around his body (and yes, sometimes his neck).
We do put him in a front-snapping onesie and then a sleep sack. I thread the wires for the apnea monitor between the top two snaps on the onesie and then out the armhole of the sleep sack. The extension tube that needs to be attached at night for his late night meal is threaded between the next two snaps and then also out through the armhole. The pulse-ox cable is attached to one of feet (I alternate) and then goes out the bottom of the sleepsack - the sleepsack zips from top to bottom - very convenient for getting in at night to adjust a pulse-ox cable that has been rubbed off).
Is there anything we can do to prevent this? He isn't a tiny baby any more. He moves around in bed.
I'm not sure at what age children usually move to blankets from sleepsacks, but until we are free of wires at night, I think he will have to be in a sleepsack to at least keep the wires in some sort of place.
I guess one solution would be to keep him on CPAP longer - he never lasts the night - but we are not willing to let him scream for too long. With the CPAP on, he isn't rolling around.
Sarah and Henry
