PR REMstar SE software

Postby ComputerPerson » Thu Aug 23, 2012 2:30 pm

I just got a PR System One REMStar SE, apparently a very new model with C-Flex.

Will your Sleepyhead software work with this machine, or is there a download link to the Encore Basic software available?

I will update the machine data as soon as I have an opportunity.

Thanks!

i can't find anything about SE. what is the specific model number of your machine? it should be on the bottom and may be 450, 550, 560, something like that. along with the name, etc, be sure to put your exact model number in your profile. it makes a big difference in answering some questions, particularly about software.

also, is your data card a postage stamp size sd card or is it credit card sized?

I will provide the data from the machine tag when I get home. I just joine your forum from work so I don't have that info readily at hand.

The machine uses a standard SD card - it did not come with a card (much to my provider's surprise) but I inserted a 2GB data card I had lying around into the SD card slot and it is taking data from the machine and showing no errors.

Also the machine is, I am told, a new release that is not yet even on the Phiulips website, so information on it is pretty sparse at the moment. I believe it is a more modern verison of the SleepEasy model, so I expect it is sparse on the fancy stuff.

I will also try the Sleepyhead software to see if it can read the card info.

Thanks, this looks kike a great site!

REMstar SE CA
Model 221CA

The SD card recorded the little bit of data I generated in 2 days.

The structure is a root folder called P-Series.

Under that is a folder named with the machine serial number (PP0628########) and a file called last.txt, which is the serial number again.

Under the PP0628######## folder is a n "e" folder, a "p0" and 2 text files enginfo.txt and properties.txt

Under the e folder is a single file 000.eng

Under the p0 folder are 3 files: 0000000001.000, 0000000008.000 and 0000000009.000

I will install the software and see what happens.

This is what happened after installing ver 0.8 (would not import anything) , then updating to 0.9 beta, then updating to 0.9.2 beta which loaded some info but no data for daily view or Overview:

Code: Select all
SleepyHead v0.9.2

This is a beta software and some functionality may not work as intended yet.
Please report any bugs you find to SleepyHead's SourceForge page.

So is there a download link available for the Encore Basic software to try out?

when pointing to the sd card, make sure you are pointing at the drive letter such as c, d, e, etc, not to any folders on the drive. it is probably too new for sleepyhead, although the file structure appears the same. that's why i mention the drive letter and not trying to go to a folder. check your pm's in a few minutes.

I did point it at the drive root, as the Sleepyhead sofware suggests as well. I think that is why it picked up the basic machine ID. THe data files do contain some data, but I don't think the software recognizes the file names as valid as I suspect it is looking for specific files that it can't find.

Anyway thanks for the PM, I will follow your instructions.

The PR software shows only hours used and pressures, that's about it, so i guess that's all the download information this machine records.

On the plus side it does have C-Flex and is so quiet I can't hear it - not even when I exhale. It is much quieter than the PR System 1 they loaned me to collect data and that was pretty quiet.

Thanks for all your help greatunclebill !

to be sure about encore basic here, after downloading data, go to the history tab and click detail to see if there are any details. there should be a summary page, then a page for each month of use, then daily detail pages, then a summary page. you may or may not get any of this. also on the history tab to the left of summary you may see a little paperclip. the paper clip goes to flow charts with all the data if you have it.

Well I get what they give me for free, including all maintenance and replacement of wearables and consumables, so I might just ask if a more robust machine is warranted and will they provide it (if the Dr. prescribes it they will provide it, so the trick is to convince the Dr.). But I think I'll wait a bit until the new models come out similar to what I have; in use, I really find it superior, and it just lacks in data. AutoCPAP would be a tough sell fro me, I think.

Considering my apnea has been totally eliminated at 10cm H2O (1.3, down from 27 without therapy) I don't know if they will go for it.

Thanks for the tips on the software - I'll mess around some more, but there is only a couple of days' data so maybe more info will appear as the data accumulates.

Looks like from that PDF that the SE is a brick: The PDF mentions compliance data and nothing else *sigh*
current settings Min EPAP = 4, Max IPAP = 8 and Rise time = 3

An old message but I'm a new user. Sleepyhead does seem to work with the SE model. I just got mine the other day and I'm trying to figure it out. While it can accommodate an SD card it didn't say it's requirements so I formatted it in FAT32 and the machine seems to take to it. Sleepyhead can read the data off the SD card without problem. I don't have a modem for the REMstar. Frankly I fear that would invite hackers if I'm not careful. I'll just transfer the card between the CPAP and the computer.

Actually I've used a Healthdyne Tranquility Quest for the past 14 years - no computer interface or anything. You just turn it on and turn it off. My REMstar SE is a new one for me. My wife said that night, "turn it on". Um, it IS on. So quiet compared to the old machine.

But anyhow, Sleepyhead does seem to work with it. I'm trying to find a copy of the clinician/setup manual. It's nowhere to be found and my friendly neighbourhood respiratory therapist denies it exists (though she did set the pressure before I brought it home) so I can't look to her for information.

Yeah. Bang my head against a brick wall. Cute. That's how I feel talking to them about "programming" the device.
