Go to a Different Organization for a Second Sleep Study?

Post Go to a Different Organization for a Second Sleep Study?
I need to decide whether to go back to the same sleep center for a second sleep study, or choose a different one in Denver, CO. My though has been that having a second pair of eyes look at my case separately from the first center may be more helpful. I can go to National Jewish Hospital for the second study, which is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The first study was done at Alpha Sleep (alphasleep.com) which is a chain of diagnostic clinics. I don't know if they have the same accreditation.

I have been reminded that a sleep technologist is a sleep technologist and it likely doesn't matter where the test is done. The people with the lofty credentials won't be there to administer the test anyway. The pulmonologist prefers Alpha Sleep, apparently because they are more responsive and get insurance approved more easily.

The reason I am going back is to determine whether a CPAP or BIPAP is better in my case. My blood gas is at 39, my AHI was 18 a year ago at the first test. I'm 5'10" and now 195, down from 215 a year ago. Lots of salad. My pressure is 13cm, and I've been evaluated as an extemely light breather. Should I go back to the first facility who would be more familiar with my first test, or get a fresh look at a new facility? Your feedback is appreciated.

Were you satisfied with the first sleep study?  Did you like the place and the people?  If so, go back there.

I had a study done at a place that I was very uncomfortable with and I would not have gone back there for a titration study had I needed one.

As you are not going for a second opinion, I agree with Frances and would go back to the first clinic if you liked them the first time.

I went for the second sleep at a different facility, at National Jewish in Denver and am glad I did. They had many more sleep techs there, and the testing seemed much more thorough. Now I also have access to more sleep doctors at their facility. The study should be here today or tomorrow. I found it to be a more professional organization than the sleep clinic, and the long waits to get in or get the test back did not materialize. I'm glad I didn't let the doctor discourage me from them for their own administrative convenience. We did have to jump through some more hoops for insurance sake, but glad I did.
