Post DO you THINK my 2 YEAR OLD HAS SLEEP APNEA???
Okay it started at about 18 months..........

- she was 25 pounds at 18 mons and she is 30 months and is 26 pounds, only has gained one pound in one year
- she used to chew the crib and now it's her nails, always has her fingers in her mouth
- hard to get to sleep
- sweats during sleeps...like hair is soaked, speaking of hair she doesn't have much.
- always wakes up in the night, 1-4 times a night, so hard time to get to go back to sleep, wakes up wide awake
- won't nap...but is sooooo tired
-grumpy, and hyper in the day
- wakes up tired
-WON'T EAT!!!!!!
-very thirsty all the time
-coughs during the night
-heavy breather, LOUD breather I can hear her across the room.

We have been to the Dr's and they said her tonsils were fine. But her blood test showed something was inflamed in her body. I have an appointment on Thursday for her 2 1/2 checkup.

I am so sick of waking up in the night....I want my kid to be able to sleep through the night, I know she is a good kid, but her not sleeping and eating properly are getting the way of her being that really good kid. I feel bad for her.

Is there any symptoms like hers you can identify with your kids having sleep apnea????? I feel so alone on this one.

Thanks so much.

I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL!!

How long have these symptoms been going on?
It honestly sounds like a viral infection, not apnea to me, but I have been wrong before and I am sure I will be wrong again.
Did the Doc say what was "inflamed" in her blood?  What were her white blood cell counts (these fight infection)?

Need a lot more information..I don't quite know what questions to ask you though...JustPlainBill, do you have any thoughts??

No need to post the same question twice.

It just causes confusion.

several responses to this post have also been made here ~  http://www.apneasupport.org/viewtopic.php?t=15223

There are now 3 threads going with the very same title and opening post.

Maybe the mods can consolidate all the threads as this (Pediatric) actually is the more appropriate forum for the question and will likely get better responses here.

I don't need to chill out thank you... I'm trying to help you.

Those wanting to respond to your post or those who already have, will find navigating through 3 threads a chore and then you'll have no responses.

As far as finding out what is wrong with your child, we are not doctors here. None of us are qualified to give medical advice/diagnosis. What we can and do do, is help a person find a direction to go for help or give our personal opinions.

I can understand your wanting to help your child and some advice has been given. Have you taken her to the ER yet?  Have you found the answers to questions previously asked yet?

again... no chilling needed... I'm trying to help you and to save you time in finding your answers.

Post I watched her sleep
I never did this before because I was always so scared of waking her up. It takes us so long to put her to sleep and the we tip toe all around her because she wakes up all the time.

I listened to the baby montitor last night..about 2 hours after she fell asleep...my daughter's breathing was easy to hear, and as I sat there it sounded normal but loud and then after about 5 mintutes her breathing stopped....paused for a good 10 seconds then a cough and a weird sound I don't think I could ever duplicate it. My heart started to pound then she start to snore a little until it faded into a deep breath and back to just normal breathing and then 2 minuted later the same thing happened. I went into her bedroom...and sat beside her bed and watched her...and watched her....and after 10 minutes she stop breathing, like she took a breath and didn't let it go for a long time then she made a weird sound and grinded her teeth and changed positions, she did this 3 times, took a deep breath and didn't exhale...made a weird sound and change positions. She was on the left side of the bed when I first came in and now she was on the right side. I couldn't believe my eyes and my ears.

I am going to monitor this again tonight.

Does this sound like normal sleep behavior??????
