Post Some questions about sleep study results
Looking over my titration summary I read the following statement

"Saturation baseline asleep in stage I was 95% with an average desaturation with events to 91% and a nadir to 89% following a central apnea in the prone position in stage II sleep while on CPAP at 12 cm/H20."

During the titration they got me down to 2 events/hour at 12cm and in the 4 weeks I've been using CPAP at home I'm really seeing my energy start to come back, but I'm surprised to see that kind of a drop.  Is it normal to still have that kind of incident while hooked up to the machine?

Thanks in advance.

Hi krb,

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.  Do you mean is it normal to see an improvement of energy from using cpap?  Yes it is.
And if you are down to 2 events per hour with cpap, that is great.  Sleep apnea is defined as over 5 apneas per hour, apparently it's normal to have a few.  So it sounds like cpap is working for you!

It's good to notice the changes.  If there weren't changes or improvements, it could be any number of reasons.  It could be it just takes time, or there needs to be some adjustment made.  But it sounds like you're doing really well.  Congratulations!

 Applause

Linda

Central Apneas are treated differently then Obstructive Apneas.

No, the improvement part is expected and very welcome.  Is it normal to still have apnea events like that even while on CPAP?  According to the report, when the pressure is at 12 cm I'm down to 2 AHI which is great, but still having a stoppage that drops my oxy below 90% is surprising.

Without going to an ASV, the treatment is still CPAP, right?

I forgot to post the other question I had.  The study says "normal sinus rythym with occasional PAC and occasional PVC."

This seems like it would be normal. especially with apnea, but I haven't seen a mention of it in other posts.

Yes, it's normal.  And sometimes it's more than  ocasional.
