Re: Pressure setting and sleep apnea

Hi
I guess I am a little confused. I thought that if you had a higher pressure setting like 17 then that means you have severe sleep apnea and if you have a pressure setting like mine will be (5) then that means I have mild sleep apnea. The DME said that isn't the case. Can someone please explain. What does the pressure setting mean, anything? I believe I was 7 events per hour so that is mild sleep apnea, right?
Thanks!
Wendy
Pressure has nothing to do with the severity of the apnoea. Pressure setting is that which is required to clear individual apnoea events.
Severity is classed by the number of events per hour.
5 to 15 events per hour = mild
15 to 30 events per hour = moderate
30 + events per hour = severe.
