Dry mouth...

Post Dry mouth...
Here's my situation:

Mostly central apneas that require a pressure of 20/17 on bi-flex.  Respironics Bi-PAP Pro 2 machine.  Humidifier heat set at 5.  Respironics ConfortFull FFM.  5 nights of compliance thus far.

Considering the situation above, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to combat waking up with a dry mouth.  My pressure is set really high, but I've seen a copy of my sleep study and understand why I need such a high pressure.  I know saliva is not produced at night and the high pressure is causing it to evaporate.  Is this something that I'm going to have to learn to live with?  I'm ok with that answer if that's the only option I have, but I like having options.

Thanks tremendously in advance,
Sleepy Scott

a very dry mouth can result from the mouth being sometimes open when wearing a nose only mask, otherwise a slightly dry mouth is probably normal, maybe the humidifier could be turned up a bit

I'm a new cpap user and have dry mouth also. Just yesterday at k-mart I found a gel in a tube called oral balance made by biotene. So far it worked really well. Maybe you can try that. Mike

Mike,

I would like to try it.  I think I will pick some up this weekend.  The dry mouth is not causing me to stop treatment, it's just an annoyance at this point.  I will let you know how it works if I can find it.  We have a K-Mart locally.  I'll go there.

Thanks,
Sleepy Scott
