 Neti Wash
Since I am new to this forum, let me introduce myself first. My name is Joyce and I have been on cpap for 3 months, and adjusted to it rather quickly with no problems. No problems so far that is. I have severe nasal allergies and religiously use the NeilMed Sinus rinse along with my medications. I love the Sinus Rinse.
My question is, has any one used the Neti Wash that you can get from the Neti Pot web site? It sounds like it would work wonders on an irritated and inflamed nasal passage. I would love to hear everyones comments on this product. I almost ordered it but hesitated because I was not sure it would do what I wanted it to. I also use Ayr gel and love it, I tried to use Ponaris, made me so very sick at my stomach, could not use it. Worked great, but it is just not for me.
Incidentally, this is the web site that I was referring to: (commercial link deleted)

I mix my own using canning salt (it is finer rhan regular salt. The stuff you buy is nothinmg more than salt and maybe a little backing powder. It really helped reduce the number of sinus infections.

I think you mean "baking soda" (sodium bicarbonate
which is used as a buffering agent in the NeilMed neti pot mix.
I assume you should use non-iodized salt?

The canning salt isn't iodized. But it I would think it doesn't matter either way. And yes baking soda not powder, sorry for the misinformation.

I read on an allergy website that if you want to make your own nasal rinse solution this is what they reommend: Warm water -(they prefer boiled or bottled water) 8 oz. mixed with 1/4 tsp. non-iodized table salt & 1/8 tsp. baking soda. If you premix a large quanity use within 3 days. I've been using the nasal rinses for about a week now and it does make you breath easier. But there are days when my nasal passages must be so swollen that the rinse won't even flow through. I'll usaually take a shower then come out and rinse again then it flows better.
