Post the perfect nitestand-does it exist?
I have been sleeping with a CPAP for about 6 mos.  I would like to know if anyone has figured out the "ultimate" bedside table/nitestand/rolling cart for the machine and its supplies?   My beside nitestand is crowded with lamp, clock, tv remote etc,   and the occasional spilled water from the humidifier doesn't do the wood surface any good.

I think the table, cart, or whatever, should ideally be about 12-18" off the ground, so as to allow the bed to block the slight hum of the machine.

If you have found something that has worked well for you, and I can find it in my area of the country, please let me know.

Thanks,

Brad in Houston

My husband built me a rolling cart.  It's basically a three-sided box and he even put a shelf in case I wanted to put something in there at some point.   He put some round casters on the bottom so it rolls easily to my closet.  I know some people leave theirs out, but we have a lab that will eat anything she can get her mouth around, so that's out of the question for me.  As for the height, he measured the height of the bed and the height of the CPAP machine.  He made the cart so that the top of the machine would be a couple of inches below the top of the mattress.  That way it's easier for me to see the display in the middle of the night.  I had also read somewhere that the machine should be below your mattress height.  He didn't paint the cart, but did put a couple of coats of varnish so any spilled water won't hurt it.  I've seen some carts that may work for you at Walmart, but they may be too high.

I think a rubbermaid step stool works very well. low, sturdy, and less than $10.00.

I HAVE HAD A CPAP MACHINE FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW AND I HAVE A NIGHTSTAND THAT I PURCHASED THAT HAS A DOOR ON THE FRONT.  NORMALLY THERE IS A SHELF INSIDE BUT I TOOK THAT OUT AND PUT THE CPAP INSIDE.  I HAD MY HUSBAND DRILL  A  SMALL HOLE IN THE BACK FOR THE ELECTRICAL CORD TO GO OUT.  I HAVE THE NORMAL THINGS ON TOP OF THE NIGHTSTAND.  ACTUALLY THE NIGHT STAND I HAVE HAS A MAGAZINE RACK ATTACHED TO THE SIDE FOR MY BOOKS AND MAGAZINES.  ALL MY SUPPLIES GO IN FIRST AND THEN THE CPAP.  I JUST OPEN THE DOOR AT NIGHT AND I AM READY TO GO.  THIS ALSO KEEPS IT OUT OF SIGHT SO MY BEDROOM DOESNT LOOK LIKE A HOSPITAL ROOM

I use the nightstand that came with the bedroom set....a small table with a top drawer and a low shelf that holds the humidaire with the apap set on top of the humidaire. I put a stick-on plastic hook on the side to hold the Breeze mask when not in use.  All within easy reach.

continue..from above post.  The lamp, clock, telephone, eyeglasses, etc all sit on the table-top (about 15" sq).

I bought a wooden stool at Target, for about $14.00.  It is kind of like a short-legged bar stool (it's lower than my mattress), very nice looking wood and light-weight.  It doesn't have any shelves or places to put things, but it's light and easy to move into the closet if and when I want to do so.

I have mine sitting on one of those rubbermaid containers.  They are fairly inexpensive, and they come in different sizes.  Works great for me!!!
