Post Resmed Mirage Nasal Swift questions...
Hello, my old mask is, as the title suggest a resmed nasal swift. Recently I needed a new hose (silly cat chewed through mine). Since it had been well over a year since I got my equipment, they asked if I wanted a new mask. Sure, why not? I told them I wanted a new mask just like the one I had (the part that connects the mask to the hose was always slipping loose).

I got my new mask, put it on and it is really awkward. The part the air comes out of and goes up my nose now feels like a lincoln log on my upper lip.  Shocked

I look, and it is the resmed mirage nasal swift TWO. I hate that mask. AM I crazy or are these two masks, though almost the same to look at, drastically different?

It is NEW & IMPROVED d'oh!  d'oh!  d'oh!

Many here use the Swift II. It is my mask and I like it quite a bit. Try it a bit more, it may become better.  Just don't stop your CPAP!  You may be able to get the parts for the old one... Not sure about that as I am new to this.

Long story short, the Mirage Swift I pillows should still be available and you DME should be able to geet these for you.
Further, you may be able to return your Swift II for a new Swift I (or at least for new pillows, frame, clip and end cap-they do share the same headgear). You might also remind them that you asked for a mask just like the one you used to have and like it or loath it the Swift II is not just like the Swift I.

FWIW-I have used the Swift I and the Swift II. My experience is that the Swift II is more quiet and it does a much better job with the exhaust. Many people who have tried both feel, as Barb does, that the new Swift II is a major improvement. My own experience is that I find the pillows to be stiffer and less comfortable on the old nares. I am having some issues with nasal congestion and have switched to a nasal mask so that I don't have to worry about the discomfort of having a clogged nostril.

Best wishes,
Bill

Bill,

Thanks for your input! I didn't like how the exhaust comes right out at the bottom and for some odd reason, no matter which set of pillows I put in, my nose sounded like a ballon deflating.. slowly. :(

ANYway.... lol... do you have a lot of issues witrh congestion? I seem to get congested at bed tiem a lot. I almost think my mind is doing it. I have been addicted to afrin on and off ever since I got my mask. I am "on the wagon" so to speak right now. :)
