 I have a cold.
Just got my CPAP back in July of this year. Now I have a cold and an incredibly stuffy and runny nose. How am I going to be able to sleep with my CPAP mask? I feel yucky enough with the cold, not having my CPAP is REALLY going to kick my booty. Suggestions?

Wish I had a solution to offer for this, Snoozy-Q. I was off my bipap all last week with the same problem. I don't know what else you can do if your sinuses are clogged and the air won't go through your nose. I hope you get over your cold quick.

Hi Snooze-Q,
Take over the counter decongestants and irrigate your sinuses. Here is how. Read the whole post because it isn't as hard as it sounds at first.

I have a cold abd another question
Oooh. Makes my eyes tear just to think of irrigating my sinuses! I will give it a shot though. Thanks Vicki!!
Being diagnosed with severe OSA is a life-altering event. It amazes me how many people I know live with this. No-one ever talks about it.
My Mom was diagnosed a couple of years ago but will not use the CPAP. In fact, she returned it to the clinic. She has adult onset diabetes, HBP, and an enlarged heart. All of which I now know can be attributed to OSA.
Any suggestions as to how I can encourage her to get another machine and use it? I have been very upbeat and positive about my experience. I appreciate any advice how to gently persuade her to take this seriously.

Hi Snoozy-Q (Very Cute)
How goes nose hosing? I need to accentuate, be gentle!
There is a lot of info. at the ASAA home site which you can print off for your mom (far left link under forum title). Make sure she understands her symtoms can be attributed to OSA as well as an increased risk of stroke, headaches, depression, weight gain, memory and concentration problems, etc.
Hope you are feeling better soon!! Keep us posted about yourself and your mom!

Hi Vicki!
Haven't tried to hose the ole' schnozzola yet. OTC decongestant did its job. I am more inclined to believe I am suffering from allergies than a cold. I feel pretty good today, most likely because I slept GREAT last night!
Thanks for directing me to the resources available thru this site. I will print off some stuff and send it to my Mom.
I am so glad this forum is available. Thanks to all who contribute to its success!

I had that problem last week and gave the ole sinuses a couple of shots of Vicks nasal spray about an hour or so before bed (had to have time to go through the whole sniffle-cough routine that follows a nasal spray). It worked for me.

Thanks Droopy Eyes for the tip!
Also, thank you, Snoozehunter for the well wishes.
These allergies make me wish I could breathe thru my ears!
Anyone know where I can purchase an extra length or two of hose? I really HATE to de-mask in the middle of the night to go potty.
