I have had my comfort gel mask respironics.. for about 4 weeks and it broke!  the little piece of plastic that holds the black pin.. on the bottom just cracked off when I put the mask on..
    I have trouble with the optilife pillows bothering my nose..... I am ok with the Comfort gel.. but now that it broke so easy I am worried.. any suggestions?   I like a small nasal mask...

I haven't used that particular mask, so I can't offer any insight about this or future breakage...

I don't recall, did you use a DME for your mask?  Some DME's are really good about taking back a mask for most any reason, and exchanging it for another one.  Some you have to squeek really loud before they'll do it...   If you used a DME, give them a call?  Maybe they will give you another Comfort Gel and send this one back to the manufacturer with comments about beefing up the construction.

Call REspironics. They will have the part.

BUT...If you went through a DME, they may tell you that they cannot get the part. That part is true.  

BUT...if you tell them you want an exchange, they will have to take it back.

ARGUE with them. They will tell you that Respironics will not refund or replace since you have had it for 4 weeks.  They are lying!!! They will tell you that you are wrong.  Keep pushing!

Tell them you called Respironics. Respironics does have a 90 day warranty on all their masks. So does Res-Med. The DME just doesn't want to mess with sending it back. That way you have to buy a new one and they make more money.

Do not settle. Stick with it. It will work. It did for me.  I went through Apria.

I also have a comfort gell but cant see what you mention but I think this mask comes in different versions
on mine, the part that presses against the forehead is easily knocked off if hit against the bedboard

the resizing method made it fit my face much better

I have a comfortgel nasal mask by Resporonics & I've never had any problems with breakage. I've had for 5 almost 6 months.

I've had two Comfort Select masks break in that same exact way. It's just cheap plastic. I went back to my DME and they suggested I switch to the Comfort Gel because those connection points on the mask are supposedly heavier and sturdier on the Comfort Gel mask. Hearing that yours broke doesn't sound promising.  It's the only mask I have so when it breaks I don't have a spare. If it breaks within 90 days it should be covered by the manufacturer. My insurance will pay for a new mask every 3 months so after 90 days I can just get a new one....perhaps your insurance will cover a new one.
They told me the breakage comes from having the straps already connected when the mask is put on. They suggested I remove the strap on the bottom and after I put the mask on my head to then connect the strap.

They haven't beefed up the plastic on these from my experience. I got one in Dec. 2007 and one of the tabs at the bottome where the clip goes in broke off about a month ago. Cheaply made product, and it makes me mad that they know it does this and they don't fix it. I won't buy another Respironics mask knowing that. And I don't put it on with both straps already done - I fasten one strap on after I put it on my head, so that's a lame answer on their part. I find this very frustrating at the price they charge for the mask to begin with.

respironics claim to have strengthened it but the plastic where it breaks seems the same thickness
they nearly all broke which must have hurt respironics reputation ( mine broke also)
