I was over at my parents' house this afternoon and was telling them about my problems with what I think is apnea. My mom gave me a newspaper ad for a sleep study that she thought I'd be interested in. It doesn't specifically mention the words "sleep apnea". It does mention "insomnia",and also that they are looking for "healthy adults who have difficulty falling and/or staying asleep, and who wake up feeling tired and unrefreshed". I technically meet all the qualifications. What they are offering is "Study related medical examinations at no cost, study related sleep studies at no cost, and compensation for time and travel". I'm wondering if I should investigate this further or steer clear of it due to the fact that they're not specifically studying apnea??? My understanding of insomnia is the inability to fall asleep. This mentions inability to fall asleep and/or stay asleep.
Should I try to follow up on this or just go to my doctor and have him set a sleep study up for me? While I'm asking this, keep in mind that my insurance is an 80/20 and we are in a very tight financial situation right now. This is not to mean that I want to compromise on anything dealing with the diagnosis or treatment. I need some advice here. What do you think?
Thanks in advance,
Sleepy Scott
