HA, that's a good one!
In response to you:  That which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. .   I quite agree.  Stronger for merely having lived through it also.
I learned SO much about myself from my scoliosis surgery!  Some real funnies too.  Since that's of-subject, will privy you as soon as I get time.  Ya jus can't bend over to spit out the toothpaste when yer in a full body cast!!  What a surprise that was; least it was an easy cleanup.

Post Reflux
I had the hiatial hernia repair surgery to fix my GERD about 10 years ago.
The surgery worked like a charm but then, being able to eat whatever I wanted for the first time in years, I gained weight.d'oh!

I still haven't had reflux or heartburn since the surgery!

I have bad acid relux.

I was on Nexium for over a year but I stopped because I started feeling esophagal spasms.

I need to do something again to fix this but now that I am having all these sleep studies done and DR's appointments for this I dont have the time to take off of work.  I wish at least hospitals would let you make DR's appointments for the evenings when most people are not working.

Folks it looks like Enteryx was recalled because of docs not injecting it properly.  Another great idea ruined by incompetancy...

If your doctor isn't taking you seriously find another doctor FAST.   Don't wait to have the reflux checked and monitored.   I waited too long and found out that the acid had damaged my esophagus and caused a 'change' in cells of the lining.   I had  to have surgery to wrap a part of my stomach around the valve that leads to the esophagus to create a tighter 'valve'.   That stopped the reflux.

Unfortuntely, due to the damage, I'm now on regular esophageal scope monitoring.... to make sure those 'changed cells' are not turning into cancer.

How are you doing with the Nisin Fundoplication?  I opted for the Enteryx procedure, but I don't think that is possible if you have Barrett's esophagus... If the Enteryx doesn't work, then I will probably have to go that route.

There are a lot of problem that can be caused by the acid, in my case I was having asthma attacks weekly.

Hi, Mike -

I've been doing great after the fundiplication surgery.  Drinking water is hard sometimes if I drink too fast or take too big of a gulp.... and carbonated beverages are uncomfortable unless I drink them with ice.  The 'valve' is so tight now dense liquids or carbonated beverages move slower through it...  But, it's a minor issue compared to the problems I had before. Good luck!
