Post Differences in terms - help
What's the difference between apneas and hypopneas?  They are listed separately on my sleep study.  My study shows 0 apneas and 105 hypopneas with an index of 22.1.  Thanks

Gary,

I had very similar results in my study - no apneas but LOTS of hypopneas.  My understanding is that you don't quit breathing completely, but your breathing is disrupted to a degree that causes the same long term effects as true apneas - and the treatment is the same, CPAP.

If you want more detailed help with your results, I encourage you to post the report information in this section - there are several very knowledgeable folks who can help you.

Hope that helped!
Karen
