Post Deviated Septum
I am told by the specialist that I do not get much air through the left nostril which is the one  affected by this problem (deviated septum).  I could have an operation but she said that  it may, or may  not, improve thing.    So I thought perhaps it would not be worth doing,  it sounded painful.    Any thoughts on this please?
The left nair leaks fairly often, could this be  because of this problem ?  or maybe it just needs a different sized nasal pillow (Breeze mask), the nair is slightly smaller than the other side.   I am going to order a smaller size to see if it helps.

I am in a similar situation, but I found with the prescription nasal spray, (like flonase) it keeps things clear enough not to make that much of a difference.  You might want to ask about that versus surgery, as a lot of folks seem to do better when their nasal passages are as clear as they can be.  I suggest you register on this board also, that will allow you to receive private messages,  as some folks do not like to post, but they do like to help.  Keep us posted!

Correcting a deviated septum has proven very successful in helping with cpap compliance. The procedure (afterwards) is painful but properly medicated is not too bad. There is considerable 'packing' also.

As soon as the swelling goes down you should have a clearer passage for air to get to the airway and cpap becomes even more effective. Often the pressure can be reduced.

As regards sleep apnoea, correcting a deviated septum brings good benefits. The procedure itself is not life threatening and even the large group of medics who are 'anti surgery' will admit that it is more likely to be a good move than a bad one. It certainly won't do any harm.

With regard to the nasal pillows and the soreness in the nares, I think you should look towards a larger sized pillow. It is a fairly common occurence and the use of a larger sized pillow usually brings relief.
