PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on FOX TV and it states that it is seldom used
because people don't know it exists.

They don't want you to feel "unsafe" using a teller machine, apparently.

There is a law on the books in Illinois, but since it has no teeth, participation by the banks is voluntary.  And the banks don't participate.    Nice, huh?

Well think about it. If that system were in use and the public was notified about it, the criminals would also know about it and hightail it out of there as soon as they got the money.  In most cases the cops wouldn't get there in time.

You should be so lucky that the crook just takes the money and runs--a lot safer situation for the victim.  The crook knows he needs to get away from you as fast as possible before the cops catch up.

Better than being held hostage from one machine to the next all over town, and then God knows what happens after that... maybe getting stuffed in your trunk and taken across state lines.
