Post Dealing with the popping ears?
Thank goodness for this board! I thought I was a freak of nature for being barely 30, having sleep apnea (which I thought was just a catch-all diagnosis for anyone with a sleep problem), and only 20 or so lbs overweight.  I'm not alone after all!  Very Happy

I've only been using my CPAP for just over a month, but what drives me nuts is the need to swallow frequently.  It makes my ears "pop" like the pressure change on an airplane.  I have to take the mask out (I have a nose-only mask that covers just my nostrils), swallow to clear my ears, then put it back in.  This can keep me awake for a long time.  Any suggestions for how to deal with this?

Many thanks!!!
Lori

I did notice that CPAP seems to give me an early ear cleaning warning.   Shocked   Try upping the frequency, and see if that helps.

You might try using a longer ramp time, to give your ears a little longer to adjust to the nightly pressure change.  Swelling int he tissue around the eustachian tube can contribute to ear congestion, and using heated humidification, and decongestants can help keep them clearer. Perahps discuss these alternatives with your physician
