Post Newly Diagnosed
Recently, I went in for my sleep study. A couple weeks later my doctor called me into the office and told me that I had severe sleep apnea. He also told me that my oxygen saturation should be 95-98% at all times, but mine had dropped as low as 65% during my study. This is the only information I was given. No info about how many times I woke up, how long it took to get to sleep, etc... I was planning on talking to him to try and get some more detailed information, but I got a letter in the mail from MercyCare stating that he is no longer practicing with them. Should I be able to request detailed test results??

Working in the medical field, I'd say you can request your results.  Whether he is still there or not, they should still have your paperwork.  The fact that he is no longer there raises red flags though!!  Be careful in the process.

Any individual has access to their own medical records so you can request copies of them.  They are your records, you don't have to work in the medical field to get them.

I requested my results and were given them without any problem.  I think you just have to ask.

People seem to have an easier time getting the results from tests than I do.  I always get the "HIPPA doesn't allow it" statement.

Sleep study people said that they couldn't give it to me, but the prescribing doctor could.  Doctor was happy to give it to me (and sent me a copy I couldn't read, but that's another matter).

Your records should stay with the place that did it, so I agree -- get those records.
