Post getting more sleep
Hi Everyone!

I've been using a BiPAP machine for about 6 weeks. Finally got the right mask and use the machine every night. I don't seem to be sleeping more than 6.5 hours a night (this includes periodic wakings). Here's my question... is this the magic number for me? Will I ever move to 7 or 8 hours a night?

I don't feel like this is enough sleep as I still feel the need for a nap during the day.

Any suggestions?

waiting to exhale,

That all depends on you, your schedule and your needs.  At 6 weeks, I was struggling to average 5 hours and over the last 5 months have brought my average up to about 6 1/2 hours per night.  Some of it I make up for on the weekends.  If I get much less than 6 hours, I'm dragging and if I get too much more than 8, I'm "foggy".  So, I try to gradually increase my time in various ways, but for me about 6 to 6 1/2 hours per night is about where I'm at.....and doing OK with it.
Don't know if that helps or not, but give it some time.  Everybody's different.  It can take quite awhile to turn around the affects of OSA on your body.

Best wishes,

DW
