I was given a perscription for a CPAP machine about 10 weeks ago. I have a sleep Apnea reading of 82.
I have used it (in one form or another) every night. Out of the 70 nights I think I have worn it the whole time about 4 nights.
I am struggling with this machine. I feel unmotivated (was fairly motivated before), lathargic, and depressed since using this machine.
I am taking my machine in to get looked at. Reason being. Went for a follow up sleep study to calibrate my unit and used the clinics CPAP machine and it felt awesome.
I have a Fisher & Paykel series 200 with humidification and a F&P HC 405 appliance.
Any advice? I'm almost in tears and I'm running out of ideas
Hi,
Your apnoea reading of 82. Is it an AHI (ie 82 events per hour) or what?
What is the pressure reading on your cpap machine ? Should be between 6 and 20.........hopefully not higher.
Sounds like you were handed a machine and sent home to sort it out. Not ideal, but it does happen.
Post back the deatails.
In the meantime, you are having a tough time. Nothing strange in that. It took me many months to get used to it, I'm now on cpap for 11 years, so it can be done.
The machine is not as important as the mask. In fact the mask is everything. If the mask is not right then cpap will not work. What type of mask are you using ? You mention a lack of motivation, why ? Did something happen to knock you off a bit ?
There are numerous ways to get you compliant. Post back some answers and specific problem areas and we can deal with them. CPAP will work and there are enough people here to give you the right answers and get you compliant.
You have taken the first step.........keep it up.
Daniel
