 Do you take Provigil® (modafinil)?
There's been a lot of talk about Provigil® (modafinil) on here and I though this would be an interesting poll.
Can't you tell. I'm poll crazy!

I was given a prescription (by my cardiologist no less) and it's been filled and sitting in my kitchen for over a month now, but I haven't had the nerve to try it yet.
Something about the "we know it works but don't know how it works" explanation bothers me. I'm going to have to try it sometime.

 Provigil
I tried Provigil and it didn't work for me at all, even at 300mg/day. I also tried Ritalin which did absolutely nothing. It takes large doses of any med before it works for me but these didn't work even at higher doses.

I would love to give it a try, is it an expensive drug? Most likely it is, seems anything associated with SA is outrageously expensive.

Jean-it is EXTREMELY expensive. My script copay is usually $2. My copay for a month of Provigil was $69. I was shocked and thought they forgot to apply my insurance then tech told me "No,you saved $201!!!!!!!! " YIKES!

Holy cow!! Well, unless I could get it through the local Medical Assistance Program here I won't be trying it. Thanks for the info.

 Provigel - works 4 me
I've been on Provigel for the last four years - my regular Doc doubled my dose last year when I continued to complain about being tired and trying to drive. I can't say that the doubling worked any better - but it helped a lot from nothing at all.
And yes, it is expensive. I only pay a $5 co-pay no matter what, but I was told that it was $240 for 30 caplets.
Good luck

I used to take it. I don't know if it really worked though.
It is very expensive and I no longer have health insurance. I used to buy it in Mexico because it was only $60/month there.
I might try it again someday.

I want to share this update in my experience. Last night I found an official web site for the company that makes it Cephalon, and they had a link to try it free for 7days. I was all set to print my coupon to take to the Dr. today when I noticed it expired the 31st of Dec. 06. They also had an 800 number to call so I did. I didn't get a person of course, but I left a message and they actually called me back this morning. The woman went weird on me as soon as I mentioned the printable coupon being expired and that was what I wanted. She started acting like I was trying to obtain it illegally. It was very strange. I finally managed to get the phone number from her for my Dr. to call and get a company rep. to pay a visit with coupons.

Probably because it's a controlled substance (Class IV I think). We're in an age where you have to sign a log to get Sudafed at the pharmacy now, so companies are going to get very cautious with the harder stuff...
I finally took one today, 200mg. Didn't hit my 2PM nod-off attempt at my desk, but since my CPAP pressure was upped that hasn't happened as often. My ultimate test was going to be the train ride home tonight since I never can stay away for it, but I missed my usual train and I've noticed that when I vary the schedule I don't get the urge to nap on the train. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

Yes, it requires a prescription to get it....and that was clear in their coupon offer. I wasn't trying to get anything they weren't offering, and prior without any human contact. I just wanted a coupon that wasn't expired. I'm thinking maybe she was new?? I don't know, but the treatment was bizarre. Today I can't stop yawning and would really like to get some things done, it would be nice to have one to try.

 I haven't taken a nap in 3 months...
Before CPAP, my Saturdays and Sundays were shot from needing to nap. Now, there's no need. The "being tired" issues have gone away entirely.
