Well we have a snow advisor out for our area. Great just what we need. Sniff it's gonna be a cold one here for about the next 3 or 4 days. I got a question for you all. Any one here have a friend riding a trike? The wife and me are thinking of getting one for the colder wether so we can still get out more.

We rode a trike at WD and dh said it was nothing like two wheels and something he would have to learn to drive all over again. He's been bike riding since he was 15 so it would be like teaching an old dog a new trick :)

Do you think it would be safer in cold/snow/sleet/ ice,  then two wheels? We don't mind the cold but the "acts of God", do keep us off road.  I wear ski pants and my Goldwing coat and sometimes long johns. Columbia makes some nice outerwear and some lightweight gloves that work great!

The wife and me are considering a trike when we get into our 60's. As we start to lose our ability to balance correctly getting a trike would just make sense for us. It would also be a little more stable in the rain. I would not want to get caught out in the snow on anything that is not enclosed. Team Oregon / MSF has a trike course that I would take since it is so different from a bike.

Sorry to hear that your weather has gone for a dump out there. Here in Southwestern Ontario it has been sunny and unseasonably warm. My wife and I were out riding today and we saw many other bikes. We met a guy who has a 2004 Yamaha Venture with a trike conversion kit. He just loves it. Speaking of Yamaha, I was on their website last night and they have a link to the concept for the new V-Max. I think it will be one of those love it or hate it bikes. In a way it reminds me of the Honda Zodia concept from the mid nineties.

Brian, I saw your post and had to run out to the garage and start my bike. It's been two weeks so I had to start it. Nearly forgot. Let it go longer than three weeks it gets real hard to start. Try to remember every two weeks. I gotta tell you that those Yamaha Venture are nice bikes. That V4 engine has been around for some time and really runs good. Can you send me that link for the new VMax. I'd like to get a look at it. Did they up the engine size or is it the same?

I hate to say this but I think we are getting your weather here. Normally we get one or two days of snow in January. We have already seen snow and they are expecting more. I will be happy to send this weather your way if you miss it.

I agree with getting a trike when we get into our 60's and a little more unstable too. I can't imagine not riding just because we age a little. We met a couple from Fla at WD who ride in the snow because they travel all year. Not me. I say travel in the south in the winter months and go north in the summer. It's not safe.

We are having unseasonable weather here too. Highs in the 70's when we should be in the 40's or below. My kids are here from California so we swear they brought it with them   They had hopes of cooler temps and brought long sleeves and sweaters.

I took a look at the V-max and in my younger days, I think dh and I would have loved it!

Link to new Vmax is www.next-vmax.com. I also saw the 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom today. Neat bike. I'm getting a liitle tired of the fat tire full fender look and this bike is the first one I've actually considered buying for the last few years. I rode the original 900 in the spring and was amazed at how smooth it is for a V twin. Selling for $8895 CDN at my local dealership. Hmmmmmmmm. I've been looking to downsize because the ST 1100 demands to be ridden fast and  my poor wife can't keep up on her Intuder. Kawi hasn't udated to 2007 models on their website yet.

I was going to try to get out Saturday, but the wife had to go to work. Then Sunday I ended up having to run my dad everywhere. (He's 90% blind from a construction accident in `91.) When I finally got a chance to go out, the battery was weak on the bike, and I decided to just let it charge....

Today was the first time in about two months that I started the bike. Had to wait for the fuel system to reprime before I could start it. I NEED to get some Seafoam and take it out for a good ride tomorrow, weather permitting...

Well we are suppose to be getting two days of nice weather here. What a change from what it was Monday when it brought a snow storm through. The only problem is we are still near the freezing point right now.

That new VMAX is some bike. Little to fast for me though. That 900 Custom from Kawasaki would be a little more my speed. Those Vulcans are good bikes. I know several people who own them and they just love them. Wouldn't give them up even for a HD.

Actually I owned a 1997 Vulcan 1500 Classic before I got the ST. I bought the bike brand new and had it on a trailer twice because it wouldn't run before it had 2000 miles on it. I wound up getting basically a whole new engine under warranty, but the bike never seemed right. Believe it or not, over 4 years, I had as much trouble with that Vulcan as I had with my old HD shovelhead. I am thinking hard about that 900 though. The engine has been around a year now, and I haven't any negative press on it.

Brian you are one of the few people I have ever heard that had problems with a Vulcan. I think we all know that no matter how hard manufactures try there are always a few lemons that get produced. I really think you can't go wrong with this one and you should be happy if you do buy that 900. Let me know if you decide to buy that bike. I was also going to say that it's neat that your wife rides as well.
