Post Mask Comparisons
I am a new CPAP user (about three weeks) and started with the ComfortFull mask as I am a mouth breather (sinus problems). I am growing increasingly annoyed with the mask and am trying to determine if I'm going to get a F/P Flexfit 431 (full mask) or use the Oracle 452 oral mask with nose plugs.

I am looking for any thoughts or experiences, particularly in comparison with these items. I am also open to other options. THX!

FlexiFitâ„¢431 CPAP Full Face Mask w/ Headgear by Fisher Paykel

This is the one I use.  The advantage compared to the others is it fits over the cusp of your chin.

I like the way it sits lower on the nose, eliminating pressure on the nose bridge, but the chin is exposed leaving an opportunity for a dropped jaw.  I do feel the pressure with the FlexiFit 431.

I would like to try this one to see if the nose plugs would bother me.  Seems to me its advantage is it takes up a smaller patch of face real estate.

Hi Bob,

I'm with Anhelo, FlexiFit 431.  I tried every other (really not kidding) FF mask on the market and this one is a dream (literally) for me.  The UltraMirage can't hold pressures over 9 and the Respironics FF mask doesn't do well at higher pressure either.  Additionally, for me, the headgear for the Repironics FF mask didn't seem to pull the mask pressure evenly.  It was like the headgear attachment points were in the wrong place.  The ResMed mask fit fine as far as the headgear goes however.

Since I am a mouth breather,  even with a chin strap,I found it most difficult using the conventional mask.  I am now using a full face mask which compensates for the open mouth breathing and find it much better.  The only problem I'm having is air leakage that happens more than I'd like.  I've adjusted the harness several times along with the adjustment of the RESMED nosepiece, but still have occasional problems.  Still getting used to this device since I've only had it since mid July.

The cliche, YMMV (Your mileage may vary) certainly applies to masks.

I struggled with the Respironics ComfortFull FF mask for almost 6 months.  Leaky and hurt my face.  I tried a Hans Rudolph FF mask - leakiest thing on my face that I've ever tried.

The ResMed Ultra Mirage FF worked beautifully for me, holding its seal just fine at pressures that went to 13 and 14 occasionally on autopap.  Very comfortable cushion that works best with straps not very snug.

I've tried two F&P "Flexifit" nasal masks.  Since the cushions of the F&P nasal masks were not particularly comfortable to me, and the Ultra Mirage FF worked so well, I've not tried the 431.

I agree with rested gal. The respironics did not work for me. The Res med is a much better fit and comfort
