Post machine not effective
i have been using a cpap with water chamber, full face mask, maxed out pressure 18.5 for 2 years now. the machine was recently checked and is in proper working order.  i replace the mask every 6 months and just received my new one.

my wife has been telling me i have been snoring in the mask for some time now., bad enough for her moving into another room.

i know it still helps me, i have to wear it or i can't sleep.

any thoughts?

Post Still snoring
Hi Ideb!
Absolutely back to the doctor.  Any changes since the first study(s)?  Like weight gain?  Allergies?
In the absence of any changes, and if the first study was done properly, maybe see an ENT surgeon.  That you are on a full-face mask suggests to me that there could have been nasal issues back from day one.
And if that's the case, maybe even an oral-only interface may help.  Or medicated nasal spray(s).
Get the sleep study results if you can.  Just to see if in fact, the OSA was properly controlled back then.  18.5 is not the maximum available pressure, and there are ways to add more therapy (I don't wanna say just pressure, cause maybe a mode change (like BiPAP) may be helpful here.)

If you are snoring in the mask your apnea is not being compensated, so as Dave said, go back to your doc.  Snoring was how I knew that my apnea was not being treated.

Have to agree with previous posters...

Have you tried your old mask?  It is possible that the new mask is defective.  You might try that first, as your message said you just replaced it.

The general rule for this is, if something changed (new mask, hose, etc) and things aren't going well, switch it back and see if it is still a problem.  If it is, you need to see the doc.

Good Luck and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks to all. It's hard to tell if it's the mask but I suspect I have just gotten use to it or my body has figured out a way around it. When I first got it a couple of years ago, it was a little hard to get used to. I just moved so I have to find another Doctor. I have gained some weight but I snored just as bad when I was in good shape.  It seem to be if I am on my side it doesn't happen for what its worth.
