Post Sleep Apnea after gaining weight
Hello, I am 27 years old male and would like to find if anyone else experiencing a same problem.
My Sleep Apnea started about 4 years ago just after i gain about 25-30 pounds. Would that be a main reason for my disorder? Also I’m a boxer in the past and my noise structures have been broke a few time. After two plastic surgeries doctors told me that i wouldn’t have any more problem with breezing thru my noise, but i still do. Would my Apnea go away after i lose some pounds? Also i read about an Oxide an Machine. Is this a treatment or a solution for a rest of my life? Is there and surgical treatment available. Thank you.

Post Weight Gain
Hello Sleepyav!
Weight gain is a big reason for sleep apnea to get worse, so is simply getting older.  Would the apnea go away if you lost weight?  It would probably get better, but can't tell for sure if it'll go completely away.  Were you tested for sleep apnea?  Are you on CPAP?  That may be the machine you are referring to, if you're not already on it.  Some people call it an "oxygen machine", but it's really more like a pressure machine.  If you haven't been tested in a sleep lab for sleep apnea and placed on CPAP if you need it, you should go that route.  Weight loss is a great idea, but it's not always easy to do or easy to keep the pounds off.  Treating sleep apnea could actually make that easier for you.  Stay in touch.
