Is it too late to add an Avatar now that I'm already here all the time?
If not, how do I do it?

When you go into your profile, you will see four methods to add an avatar.
The last one is a gallery of existing pictures.

The first method is to upload your picture from your computer.  But you will find limitations with that (small number of pixels, file size).  That one is hard to get right.

The next two have to do with URLs, which means the photo you use comes from a URL internet address (like what you do for posting photos in the forum).
If you use an online URL site, like www.photobucket.com, you can upload your favorite pic to that site and highlight the URL address, copy it and use it in your profile, where it says uploading a URL.  

The next URL method is if you know of an avatar on some other website, you can link to it.  That is good as long as that avatar photo remains on that website you link to.  If it's deleted, it won't appear here.  The first URL method I like the best.
