Thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts.

Thursday is the funeral and well, I found time to take a breather and of course, I had to check in.
I find comfort in these sleep apnea support forums.

My mother has been in a lot of pain for years now.  Her visits to hospitals, for one thing or another, had been increasing.
It's not any one condition, it was many (although these last medical emergencies had been brutal on her body).  She was a nurse herself.  I think she saw her future to be one big trip to the hospital after another, so she gave up, shut down, and there was nothing anyone could do or say to make it better.  She didn't commit suicide, not like that.  She simply gave up, refused food, physical therapy and the love of her family.  Finally, her body gave out on her, which she expected.  She wanted to die on her own terms, and that is only right.  Not easy for us to deal with, certainly, but understandable.

I am most grateful to you all.  I feel a little uncomfortable being the focus here, for everyone loses a parent or close family member one time or another.
I'm going through what everyone else does.  During this sometimes I think back on daddysgirl's posts about the death of her father, and for some reason, that helps, at least for now it does.  Funny how someone else's story can help.  But hey, we all know that, just from all the stories here about sleep apnea.
If ever there's anything I can do for you, just say the word.

Thanks again.

Linda
