Useful information may need to include a link to a commercial site. How are we to get this useful information if it is MODERATED out of a post. Good equipment does need to be purchased somewhere and often the only place to get good info is on a site that is selling the product.

I disagree.  You can still reference material on a particular website, but you can not HOTLINK to it. If you look, there are many posts that state that someone bought x at store y and they think its the best place to get stuff.  Those comments are fine.  The problem that we run into is when someone directly links to a store or a product.  This gives the appearance of the ASAA supporting that site or product.  For the ASAA to remain neutral, we can not give the appearances of favoring one over another.  Members also have the ability to PM each other with whatever material or links that they want.
