 Machine/mask
Good afternoon!
I would like to know if REMstar/plus with humidifier is a good machine. I also have a petite gel mask that cover my nose which is a problems due to dry mouth and nose. The mask is hard to fit on my nose because it slips off.
Thanks,
Christina

yes, that is a good machine and humidifier, however, depending on your pressure, many folks have trouble keeping a goode seal with gel type masks. My personal favorites are Activa nasal mask, or breeze or swift nasal pillows. If find for me, the nasal pillows are much easier to keep a good seal with. The breeze leaves no morning marks on the face.

Okie,
Thanks for the information. I will check out the nasal pillows. The gel mask I have know leaves the bridge of my nose hurting in the mornings. Sorry about the any spelling errorss. Hard to type with cats on tthe keyboard.

What do you think about the Respironics ComfortLite nasal mask?

for me, the comfortlite pillows didn't stay sealed as well as the breeze or swift. the low heaedband above the brow, would twist when I shifted my head on the pillow.
and with a pressure of 14 the mask attachment would not stay tight enough against my face. I believe you would like the breeze or swift better if you are considering nasal pillows, if a mask..the Activa seals very well

I Have the swift now, it is just that side tube gets in the way when I sleep on the side that it is on. Is it hard to sleep on your back with the breeze with that headgear and all?
I use a size large nasal pillows with the swift, what size would I need for the breeze? we don't have a dealer in town that carries the breeze, I would have to order online.

Haku,
Some people with a smaller hat size do find the breeze "lifts" at the nose if they are back-sleeping. I think this is generally more of a problem for ladies than the guys. As for nasal pillow size, the extra large breeze pillow (lavender) is closest to the large swift nasal pillow.
As for the tube getting in the way, the PAPillow is made for side sleepers .Try a google search and see if it might help you.

Haku, if you have an average or large size man's head, you might want to take a look at Aeiomed's Aura nasal pillows interface. I have one (very modified, to fit my head...the straps are too long for many women's heads) and love it. Great for sleeping in any position -- side, back, even on stomach with face buried down in a pillow. The exhaust is located above eye level and vents straight up, never hitting anything.
The only misgiving I have about suggesting the Aura to you is that you said you use the "Large" nasal pillows with your Swift. Currently the Aura comes with "medium" and "large" pillows. I think Aeiomed is supposed to come out with "extra large" pillows soon. One manufacturer's "Large" might be a tad smaller than another's. So, just in case the "large" pillows that come with the Aura are not big enough to seal well for you, you might want to check with Aeiomed to see when "extra large" would be available.
Don't be put off by the look of the Aura in pictures at online stores or at Aeiomed's website. It is much, much lighter than it appears in pictures.

 airhose problems
I have a swift mask and have fixed the hose problem. I have a long wooden board sticking up behing the headboard, attached to it is a 14inch swivel plant hanger arm. I've takin a 2 inch PVC pipe connector and duct taped it to the end of the plant hanger. I run my air hose thru the PVC pipe and down directly over my head. The air hose fits loosely in the PVC pipe connetor (about 2" long). The air hose goes from my REMSTAR up to the pipe and back down to me.

 RemStar Plus w/ Breeze
I have the RemStar Plus with passover humidifier and it works great for me. Also, the breeze head gear I use works the best. I find it much less restrictive than the traditional mask that covers the nose and/or mouth.
To get accustomed to the nasal pillows, I recommend a little vaseline or similar product on your nostrils for the first few weeks. Otherwise, you will probably develop sores around your nostrils.
