Stupid Q: What is the 'Settle' setting on VPAP Auto 25?

Postby PFloyd » Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:57 am

I switched machines from a Resmed VPAP S to a Resmed VPAP Auto 25. On the prior machine, I had my 'Ramp' setting, and on this machine, I have the 'Settle' setting. The manual for both machines is the same and doesn't describe it. I would talk to my DME provider, but I had such headaches with them just trying to get my machine switched out after I couldn't comply with BiPAP that I really want nothing to do with them again.

This machine definitely seems better, but I haven't been able to get more than two hours sleep (on average) per night before I wake up and take the mask off. I'm just wondering what the settle setting is for, in case it may help me with my therapy.

Thanks again!

Settling on the VPAP in auto mode is similar but not the same as Ramp in straight CPAP mode. The VPAP Auto 25 is one heck of a good device!

My understanding is that the VPAP Auto only delivers the pressure needed to stop an apnea event. The Ramp setting on the VPAP S was to slowly bring the pressure up to full...but since the VPAP Auto doesn't go to full pressure...I'm confused about what Settle actually does.
