Silly Putty to stop mask leaks
While reading over at another site there was a post from a CRT talking about some therapy putty they had ordered to help stop mask leaks. It turned out to be Silly Putty.
I bought some this morning and after playing with it for a few minutes I can say that it shows good possibility.
Going to check it out tonight.

That's interesting. Are there any chemicals in silly putty that we should be concerned with coming in contact with our skin for 8 hours or more?

FORGET THE SILLY PUTTY. I GAVE IT A THIRTY MINUTE TEST RUN AND THE PUTTY PRETTY MUCH BECAME A PART OF THE SILICONE SEAL. LOOKS LIKE THE SEAL IS RUINED. DON'T TRY IT!
SORRY IF I GAVE ANYONE FALSE HOPE

Thanks for the warning! I just went out an paid a whole dollar for a small piece. Maybe I'll test it out with a mask that doesn't fit - one day. Tonight, I'll go back to the moleskin.

The Mack's Silicone Ear Plugs are tried and true. Rolling half a one in the palms of your hands to form a rope or tape and laying that on your mask cushion along where it lays on your facial skin.
I'm sorry to hear that the AliMed Therapy Putty and Silly Putty are NOT working out. However, before giving up on the mask cushion you tried the Silly Putty on, try putting the mask cushion in the freezer or at least using ice cubes - it works for removing gum, why not Silly Putty?

I agree the earplugs are magic. The only issue I have is that every time I put a new one on the mask it takes a little bit of work to make it seal right. I should probably mark the mask seal where the earplug should go to make it easier.

I googled silly putty removal and the rubbing alcohol it suggested removed it in just a few minutes. The seal looks as good as new.
Oh well, I consider myself a pioneer and pioneers take arrows.

Glad to hear that, America! BUT - don't anyone make a habit of using alcohol on their mask cushions. It shortens the life span of the material the mask cushions are made from.

Silly Putty is made of silicone oil and boric acid, I am not surprised that it would stick to silicone rubber.
I am interested to hear that rubbing alcohol will remove Silly Putty. I have some hand exercise putty that I believe is also made of silicone oil and boric acid or borax, and some of it has oozed into the fabric of a ball cap that I really don't want to throw away.

Just do a google search on removing silly putty. The one I found had instructions on removing it from carpet and upholstery with a blotter method. Might work on a cap.
