Post help understanding
This is all dutch to me.

Could someone please help me understand these results.  The sleep Doctor did tell me I have severe OSA and that my oxygen level drops to 72 and also that on occasion I stop brething for 92 seconds.

Today wasy my followup appointment with the doc.  I went prepared with all the info I learned on this board and one other and although the DME told me that he does not believe in APAP he did prescribe one for me after I explained all the reasons (thanks DVL) that I should have one.

My titration study is booked for May 18.....when they told me that I had an even better reason for wanting an auto machine.  I am getting a Remstar Auto with C-flex and heated humidifier and smart card.  I will need to learn how to read the results.  I am quite computer literate and already have a card reader that will read many direfent cards including smart card.
TIA for help reading this report and many thanks to all who have helped me understand about this disorder.  Oh BTW, I am also being referred to ENT with appointment on March 7, Doc look into my nose and said I would probably require minor surgey to bone of turbinate which he says will help make my apap therapy work.  He was great once he found out that I have taken an interest in monitoring my own treatment.

Here is the sleep study report  http://www.showdogs.org/download/sleepstudy1.pdf

Post For Starters
Hey Bellcrest:
Well, just a couple quick things.

You can see how the desaturations are far more severe during REM.  So AutoCPAP may be a great choice, especially if there's a wide pressure range needed, like low in NREM sleep, higher in REM.  As well as the benefits of self-management.

You do have some major chunks of wake in there, contributing to the sleep efficiency of 68.5%, which, technically speaking, is "stinky."  I was about to tell you that that may be a problem when you try to adjust to CPAP, but going back to your post of Feb 4, I guess you already know that.

Let's see, on any medications that disrupt sleep?  Or any other medical conditions?  You don't seem to have a lot of arousals, but plenty of awakenings and stage shifts.  If after your apnea is tuned up you may need an insomnia workup.

Yeah, that 12 of pressure is probably helping quite a bit, but clearly, we gotta zero in a little better.

Post learning
Thanks Sleepydave.....knowledge is power.  The more I learn about this the better I will be able to deal with it.

I am very healthy, no meds, well maybe occasionally I take pariet for acid reflux, but that is rare these days.  Otherwise, for my age, I am healthy with no known medical conditions. I am not overweight nor do I have high blood pressure.

I downloaded the software for my new APAP and will be all set when it arrives to start taking charge of my own treatment.  With the help of people on this board, I'll learn how to do that and I just know I'll feel so much better.

Acutally, I didn't have all the symptos that I read about on the board.  In fact I guess it must have snuck up on me over the years as I really didn't realize just how tired I felt.  I am one of those, busy people, 2 jobs, and a webdesign business on the side.  I also have a very active hobby.  Showing and Judging dogs.  I travel a lot so as you can see, now that I know I can feel better I want to really badly.  When I was told that I could have a heart attack or stroke in my sleep it really struck home because my brother passed away 4 years ago in his sleep at just 65 years of age.
