Post Question for C-Pap users...
Our son, Isaac, is three years old and sleeping 11-13 hours/night with his c-pap. He is doing great and has so much more energy during the day.

Last night when my husband put him to bed, Isaac begged Daddy to sleep in his bed. He used to do this (when he didn't have c-pap) when he wasn't feeling great and/or somehow knew he was going to have a bad night (alarms always go off).  He hasn't done this since he started his c-pap.   My husband told him good night and left him in his bed. Isaac was out cold in less than 5 minutes and we assumed everything was good.

2 hours later, Isaac woke up gasping for air and trying to cry and call out, but it was really muffled (it's a good thing we always have our ears attune to him at night while we're still up).  I ran into his room because his cries sounded distressful.  I immediately took off his mask, when I realized he couldn't breathe, and proceeded to console him.  He had 2 apnea episodes of over 60 seconds in duration while in my arms. I called for Zeb, my husband, to bring the pulse ox down and plug him in.  His sats did pretty well over night, although he sat at 92 for a while several times.  Zeb immediately crawled into bed with him and stayed there for the night.

We did NOT put his mask back on, but left his pulse ox on for the night.

He woke up feeling good and looking great!

Does anyone have any idea why he would be gasping for breath on the c-pap? He has a nose only mask and is not even a little bit congested.

Thanks..

Tiffany..
