Post OHIP coverage for sleep apnea machines.
I have been told that the machines for central sleep apnea aren’t covered by OHIP. Does anyone know if this is true? The sleep centre I have been dealing with wants me to buy the Respironics Auto SV BIPAP Machine. Originally they said it was $7000 dollars but after mentioning the prices I had found on line they eventually came down to $4250. (That still seems too expensive to me.) After doing some research I’m thinking of buying the ResMEd VPAP Adapt SV online, I just wish OHIP would cover part of the price. Any feedback would be great.

You are being fed a line of bullpucky!!!  Where are you in Ontario?

Ohip will cover $1020 (approx) of a bi level/auto machine and $780 for straight cpap.  You need to fill out an ADP form (assisted devices program).  Odds are your dme is going to fill it out anyway and send it in further pushing their profit margin up.

Those prices are completely over the top insane.  I thought I got gouged but that is double what I paid.

Find another DME pronto.  Again not sure where you are but if you let me know we can find you somone more responsible.

Unfortunately OHIP will not cover anything on internet orders shipped from the US (nor will most insurance companies but it doesn't hurt to ask).
Resmed will not allow US suppliers to ship any products to Canadians either btw.

Send me a PM will more info and I'll help you as best possible.   (freakin DME's!! Mad )

I guess, strictly speaking, OHIP isn't doing the covering of the price -- the ADP program is the one responsible for the financial assistance. However, the ADP website says that they cover "positive airway pressure systems (CPAP, APAP, BiLevel)". For sure, I would check with another DME. I use Medigas.
