Post Weight loss and treatment of sleep apnea
I know that sleep apnea causes weight gain and/or weight gain causes sleep apnea.  For those of you who have been through this, once you are diagnosed with sleep apnea and get treatment for it, did any of you lose weight simply by getting enough rest each night?  I am looking for any information.  My husband is finally going in for this and I am worried that he may balk at the treatment options.  I sure hope the doctors are smart enough to point out all the issues he needs to think about if it is not treated, up to including death!  Thanks for any input.

I havent heard of sleep apnea or its treatment directly causing any weight alteration
untreated sleep apnea is sometimes made worse by gaining weight as we get fatter on the inside as well as fatter on the outside

Apnea definitely causes rapid weight gain, that is well documented as a symptom...

Concerned Wife, do everything you can to get your husband to comply with treatment. It will change his life.

I'll add my thoughts to this question and VancouverHoseHead's earlier one. I gained 70 lbs in the three years before I was diagnosed. I've been on the hose since September, and I've experienced something I haven't felt in years -- fullness after eating. I don't think my apetite had an off-button before. Adding that I'm more active now (I'm just starting to get regular exercise, but by more active I mean I just can't sit still as much as I used to), and I have the energy and desire to cook healthier foods, I expect to lose some weight during this initial period. I have to build up my stamina now, but I actually have the desire to do it now, rather than thinking "I can't, I just can't." Concerned wife, tell your husband this is the easiest way to feel better ever invented. I can't believe I feel so good, and all I have to do is wear the mask while I sleep. Like magic.
