Post Titration Results have me confused.
I thought that a CPAP would eliminate my apneas.  I finally got a copy of the test and it has me confused.  Could someone please look at this and translate it into easier to understand english?

Results from the Titration test (note: I was on the machine the entire time):

44y/o male
Total RDI: 4.2
Average Spo2 desaturation: 3%
Mean apnea hypopnea duration: 27.7sec
Lonest apnea: 30 sec
Longest hypopnea: 75 sec
Sleep Efficiency: 73.4%
Arousal index: 13.3/hr

Final diagnosis: Effective
Recommendations:
Drive Pressure: 12.0 cm H2)
Ramp Time: 15 minutes
Nasal Humidifier
Large Mask (RESMED Ultra Mirage)

Polysomnography Report:
Sleep Period: 474.5 min
Total Sleep Time: 387 min
Awake Time: 87.5 min

Arousal Index: 13.3
Apnea Index: 1.2
Apnea Hyponpnea Index: 4.2

Sleep latency: 40 min
REM latency: 127 min

Stage 1: 153.5 min (39.7%)
Stage 2: 161.0 min (41.6%)
Stage 3: 11 min (2.8%)
Stage 4: 0 min (0%)
REM: 61.5 min (15.9%)

Central Apnea: 0
Obstructive Apnea: 8
Mixed Apnea: 0
Hypopnea: 19
Apnea + Hypopnea: 27
Arousal: 86

Device Data:
Devise Mode: Autoset
Median Usage: 8:40 (hours:minutes)
Minimum Pressure Setting: 4.0 H2O
Maximum Pressure Setting: 20.0 H2O
Time in Apnea:  0.1% Mask On Time
Apnea Index: 0.6 events per hour
AHI: 13.0
Median Pressure: 9.8 cm H2O
Pressure 95th percentile: 12.0 cm H2O
Maximum Pressure: 13.4 cm H2O
Median Leak: 0.12 litres/sec
Leak 95th percentile: 0.24 litres/sec
Maximum Leak: 0.56 litres/sec

My Doc's RX:
CPAP machine with nasal Humidifier with 15 minutes Ramp phase and drive pressure of 12.0cm H2O and a large face mask.

Anyway, thats the results.  There are some graphs, but essentially this is the data.  There is also one more table that I will post below if it can help anyone to translate this stuff for me.

CPAP     Duration     RDI

Post That's Odd....
Hi MikeV:
The CPAP titration was done with an AutoCPAP?  I'm not real crazy about that.

Your sleep efficiency and light sleep percentages are still a little askew.

Got the sleep architecture and related graphs?  That might provide some helpful information, like how well you did in different body positions, sleep stages, etc.

Thanks for the response.  I have some graphs, but will have to wait until I return to the US next week.  I'm thinking about just getting these tests redone when I'm back.  These original tests were done in Japan, which does have first rate medical care, but it seems like specialized care (like sleep testing) is not common and probably lags behind the US.  Not saying I don't trust the docs out here, but I think a second opinion isn't a bad thing to go for.
