 Pill For Sleep Apnea?
There is an article about 2 companies trying to develop a pill for Sleep Apnea. Seems intriguing that they could make a pill that would keep your airway open. I know that I want to be first in line when they get it perfected!!
Anyone Else?

Sounds like speed, or some kind of upper. I don't think it will help in preventing obstructive sleep disorder.

 New Drug
The last two drugs under consideration for treatment of OSA are Mirtazapine (in a small study group, 12 people had their apnea index reduced by half) and a new form of Mirtazapine presently being investigated by Cypress and Organon.
Quote:The collaborative program (currently in phase IIa) will involve an enantiomer of mirtazapine, ORG 4419, and combinations of mirtazapine with another approved drug to potentially augment efficacy and improve tolerability, with Organon and Cypress jointly selecting the best development candidate based upon various proof of concept trials performed independently by both companies. The companies will also share costs and final responsibility for clinical development activities.

Make it big enough and the right shape and size and one prescription could last forever!

They've been making these for years. They're called LifeSavers. They even come in different flavors.

If the pill totally got rid of my apnea then I want to be right up front in the line. However, if I still needed to use the mask and take the pill, no thank you--I don't like pills.

I posted this somewhere already, but it disappeared. Here is the registration form for the mirtazapine and apnea clinical trial.

Thought they found that one to only help because it was modifying your sleep structure... Or was that a different one?

I used to be on Provigil, it worked so well that the HMO took it away from me. I am currently on Ritalin which is working great, but now I am focused on how tired I am during the day.

 Provigil
I was on Provigil for about 6 months about a year ago. I did feel more awake during the day, but still had to use my c-pap.. the provigil also "helped" me gain about 25-30 pounds in those 6 months. yippie!
