Post Sleep Study tommorow
Quite excited to hopefully get some better answers. Sleep study tommorow night (Wed, Jan 18th). Is there anything specifically I should ask for as far as results go? So excited I can hardly sleep (would't be quality sleep anyway right?)!

Hi Hosehead,

Pre-sleep study you need to be concerned with one thing:

Decide what to take with you to make yourself feel as comfy and at home as possible.  To give you an idea, here is my list:
Best frumpy flannel pjs
Water bottle
Meds
Fan
Pillow
Reading Stuff
Reading light if they don't have a bedside light
One cat (just kidding they wouldn't let me, but I asked)

During-sleep
If you have apnea, see if they will let you try different masks.  If you are having a second study to titer your pressure, you could try out masks then.

After-sleep
Ask when you will see the doctor for follow-up and a CPAP Rx.  If they are any good, it should be no more than 2 weeks and preferably by one week.  Results can be calculated by the computer immediately after the study, and while a doc. reviews it, IMHO there is no good reason why it should take more than a week for follow-up.

For grins, ask if you can see your tracings.  They are cool to see.

Vicki

Thanks for the advice Vicki,
We have no cats, and I definately don't think they would let my two Bullmastiffs in (besides they snore louder than me...maybe they have apnea too?) LOL

Well,
Had my study. Thanks for the advise about asking to see my tracings. The sleep tech spent close to 45 minutes with me looking at, and explaining my study. Haven't got a copy of my results yet but will post them when I do. They did mention I was having centrals early on in the night. Can't wait for some answers as I've been on CPAP over two months and can't say that I feel a whole lot better (I do notice some improvements....don't get up to use the washroom at night as much, and I'm not as tired).
