OT: The Sheisters Passed the Bail Out 74-25, Kennedy Not Pre
Senator Ted Kennedy was not present.
The sheisters passed the bail out. Debbie Stabenow, my Michigan Senator, voted against. Michigan's Levin is not up for re-election this year, but his time will come - and he sure will NOT be getting my vote. On some things I have a LONNNNNNNG memory!!
Senator Bernie Sanders, Independent from Vermont (gotta love those crusty, tight, old New Englanders, God love them!), has a proposal that made SENSE that he has put forward. Not that it did him or us much good.
Obama and McCain both definitely lost my vote (not that McCain was gonna get it anyway). I'm voting 3rd party, Independent, whoever else is on the ballot. I don't care if that person is a jackass. Some good ole equine horse manure will smell better than the stench outta the Senate tonight!

Good idea. Vote for an independent, so that you can say you voted, but not for Obama or McCain. Great idea.
You might as well not even vote. An independent will not win, so why not choose the guy that you hate the least and vote for him. That way you will be putting your vote to use. Its a poor situation, but its a heck of a lot better than wasting your vote.

I'm totally with you Crohnie. I hope I can at least find a job again before this economy crashes and burns further and I lose my health insurance at the end of December.

Ram Sleep, BECAUSE I am more than tired of voting against a bunch of idiots just to support another idiot who happens to be the lesser of two evils. I had tickets to go see Michelle Obama speak today. We didn't bother going. Not voting tells these idiots nothing. IF the Independents or 3rd party candidates get a surprisingly high number of votes it will get the message across better than just not bothering to vote. (Besides I have NO INTENTION of giving up my right to b*tch!).
Who knows, your/our state/district just MIGHT have a GOOD Independent candidate like the Senator from Vermont!
Vickie, good luck and God bless! (((hugs)))

Maybe this is Bob Barr's chance! If enough people get sick of the two-party system after all of this bs, maybe we can get much more than the 3% predicted!

I too liked the sensability in the Vermont Senator's idea..though I know this is over and done with now. The guy took the K I S S route.
Vicki...I heard the research industry is booming in Palm Beach, Martin and St Lucie County... Florida. Scripts is now in Palm Beach County...another just moved or is moving to Port St Lucie (aka St Lucie West or Traditions) and more are slated to come in...housing is affordable and the area is really nice..great beaches!. (Just in case you may want to relocate
I do not care for either candidate also....I am probably going to do a write in. Sorry, I can not agree with Ram_Sleep's way of choosing..probably due to the possible age difference of the voters? I have been around the block a few times with elections.
My family keeps sending me job openings in Kansas City, where they all are. My kid is a Sophmore in High School and special needs. It would be hard enough to move a regular kid in the middle of High School, let along a kid who needs stability and for whom I've spent years getting a good team together. Plus, the best animal training program in the U.S. is here and that is what she wants to do. I also got a part-time teaching gig at a local college, which I really love, and I want to get a couple of semesters of teaching college under my belt. All of that and my music and some very special people and I'm fighting tooth and nail to stay here.
It is nice to know you are thinking about me :) and my post doc was at Scripps in San Diego!!

I should say at the outset that I'm an Obama supporter.
But regardless, remember that the choices on the final ballot are the choices we're given, like it or not. Hey, at least we have a choice.
But one needs to look at the bigger picture, to evaluate everything besides how a candidate voted for the bailout. In other words, you can't necessarily judge a candidate by that vote alone. Ok, maybe you can.
Candidates -- it's their job to get elected; they can't have a shot at running things unless they are elected. They can't reveal their hands until after they are elected. That doesn't mean they are inscrupulous, it's just how it is. You can't please everyone, but you can't lead until you're elected. We voters make the best choice we can. Sometimes that choice is voting for the lesser of two evils. I don't feel that way this time but others may feel that way. I guess I make my decision based on who the candidates decide to surround themselves with -- not just running mates, but advisors and campaign organizers. But hey, we can't say this election hasn't been lively and entertaining!
